Donate Your Old Hearing Aids
Give the Gift of Hearing
At Hear In, no one should be disadvantaged with something as treatable as hearing loss. We believe everyone has the fundamental right to hear and deserves the joy of hearing — no matter their financial situation. Through our Donate Your Old Hearing Aids program, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who cannot afford hearing care.
If you have hearing aids that are no longer in use, recently upgraded, or sitting unused in a drawer, your donation can help someone reconnect with their loved ones, community, and the world around them.
Why Donate Your Hearing Aids?
Every year, thousands of hearing aids sit unused while millions of people around the world live with untreated hearing loss. By donating your old devices, you’re doing more than giving away technology — you’re giving someone the chance to experience life again through sound.
Here’s how your donation makes an impact:
- Support people in need: Your hearing aids are professionally refurbished and provided to individuals who can’t afford new devices.
- Reduce waste: Donating is an environmentally responsible way to keep quality technology out of landfill and reduce e-waste.
- Give back locally and globally: Hear In works with trusted community partners to ensure your hearing aids benefit people both within Australia and overseas.
If you’ve recently upgraded to new Phonak, Oticon, Signia, or Unitron devices, your previous pair could still have years of reliable life — and provide priceless value to someone else.
What Types of Hearing Aids Can Be Donated?
We accept most modern hearing aids, including:
- Rechargeable and battery-powered models
- Behind-the-ear (BTE), receiver-in-canal (RIC), and custom in-ear (ITE) styles
- Devices from Phonak, Oticon, Unitron, Widex, Signia, Starkey, Bernafon, and GN Resound
Even if your hearing aids are several years old, they can often still be refurbished and reused. If you’re unsure whether your devices qualify, simply contact our friendly team through the Contact Us page or call your nearest Hear In clinic.
How to Donate Your Hearing Aids
Donating is simple and only takes a few minutes:
- Clean and pack your devices:
Wipe them gently and include any charging cases, spare batteries, domes, or tubing if available.
- Include your contact details:
Add a note with your name, phone number, and email so we can confirm receipt and thank you personally.
- Drop off or post your donation:
You can drop off your hearing aids at Hear In Karingal or Hear In Cranbourne, or post them to:

What Happens to Your Donated Hearing Aids
When your hearing aids arrive, our audiologists carefully clean, assess, andtest each device.
Suitable aids are reprogrammed and distributed through partner charities, ensuring they’re fitted by qualified professionals for people in need.
If a device cannot be reused, it’s responsibly recycled — reducing waste and recovering valuable components for future use.
Every donation counts: some hearing aids directly restore hearing, while others contribute to training, education, or recycling programs that help more people access hearing care.
